		They are also valuable and luxurious to look at.
		They are spendid with dressy clothing and offbeat and interesting with jeans.
		They are appropriate for all ocassions and a joy to own.
		When treated with the proper care, they can maintain their lustre and beauty for generations.
		They come in many colors, sizes and shapes and can be graduated to form a graceful pattern.
		Unfortunately, they can easily be destroyed. I am often saddened to re-string or alter the pearls of my clients. Pearls that were once glorious, often end up dull and valueless.

Here is a short easy lesson to prevent damage to your pearl jewelry
	Put your pearls on last, after your clothing, perfume and makeup, all of which can remove lustre.
	Restring pearls once a year; dirty thread can rot your pearls from the inside out.
	Never place your pearls on a rough service; they are easily scratched and best left on fabric.

If you follow these simple directions, you will greatly extend the life of your pearl jewelry. And, of course, good care of everything makes sense, especially your body and mind !
